Frensham is unique in Australia with more than seventy percent of the total school enrolment in residence. It is also the only Australian boarding school for girls programmed for a full day, seven days per week, with each age group’s needs and interests catered for differently. With many teachers and teacher-trained House staff resident on campus, all staff contribute to boarding life. By living on campus, students have the opportunity to be involved in the rich co-curricular programme on offer.
The Jamieson Programme is built on the belief that teenagers are risk-takers growing up in a complex and rapidly changing world. Traditional education was focused on the known whereas today’s world asks us to educate for the unknown.
The skills, confidence and courage to deal with unfamiliar territory can be developed; they are things that are learned. The very experience of being confronted by new physical, intellectual and emotional challenges in a stimulating environment is inherently exciting and immensely rewarding.
Exposure to challenges, in a secure environment, can awaken in young people a belief in themselves that will stay with them throughout their lives.
Our unique Jamieson Programme sees all of Year 9 participate in the Cambridge IGCSE Global Perspectives course and Year 10 complete the high-level AS General course, also offered through Cambridge.
Sturt was established in 1941 and is a School of Excellence Arts, Design & Fabrication. Situated adjacent to the Frensham campus, Sturt plays an essential role in a Frensham education.
Three new Design and Fabrication studios have been established to complement the existing workshops at Sturt. These studios form a creative hub where courses in digital design and fabrication are taught by expert teachers with access to the latest technologies to facilitate 3D printing, laser cutting and use of a CNC router.
At Frensham, we give prospective boarders an opportunity to experience how it feels to be a boarder. Over two days, girls will participate in the day-to-day activities and full life of the School. They will join the other students for Morning Prayers in School Hall, lessons in the classrooms, meals in the Dining Room and sports on the Games Fields. At night, they will sleep in the dormitories.
On the first evening of the two-day programme, parents are invited to an information session to find out more about boarding at Frensham.
The next Sample Boarding will be held on 9 and 10 September 2021.
Frensham Schools Scholarships and Educational Grants for up to 50% remission on tuition and boarding fees are awarded to students who demonstrate excellence and whose parents are committed to the ideals of the School.
Scholarships (including ACER) and Educational Grants are available for:
- Rural and Regional (Boarding)
- Sydney (Boarding)
- Southern Highlands Entrance (Day or Boarding)
- ICPA (Isolated Children and Parents Association)(Boarding)
