Assumption College
Assumption College is a Catholic co-educational day and boarding secondary school in Kilmore, founded in the Marist tradition. We are dedicated to nurturing the academic, spiritual and personal development of every student, inspiring young people to seek excellence, live with purpose and contribute positively to the world around them.
Guided by our motto, Quae Supra Quaere ("Seek the things that are above"), we foster a community where compassion, kindness, humility, forgiveness, peace and gratitude are values lived each day.
Our Marist identity shapes every aspect of College life, encouraging students and staff to be present to one another, embrace a family spirit, value simplicity, and follow the example of Mary. Through this supportive and inclusive environment, students are empowered to grow in confidence, character and faith.
Assumption College is committed to providing a child-safe and child-friendly environment where every young person is respected, protected and supported. We actively promote student voice and participation, ensuring children and young people feel safe, valued and empowered within our community.
Set on almost 100 acres within easy reach of Melbourne, Assumption College is the only boarding school in country Victoria to provide every student from Years 7 to 12 with their own private room. As a close-knit boarding community of just 72 young people living in three boarding houses, students benefit from individual attention, strong connections and a genuine sense of belonging.
Families can choose between full-time boarding and a flexible five-day option, allowing students to enjoy the advantages of boarding while returning home on weekends.
Designed to feel like a home away from home, our boarding program supports academic success, personal development and wellbeing. Daily routines balance study, recreation, shared responsibilities and community life, while activities such as shared meals, fitness programs, faith opportunities and social events help students grow in confidence, independence and character.
Whether your child is beginning secondary school or preparing for their final years, our boarding program supports their growth every step of the way. Guided by a commitment to community, inclusivity and excellence, we ensure every student feels valued, supported and inspired to reach their full potential.
Students and staff are encouraged to enrich the faith life of our College community through immersions, retreats, fundraising and awareness initiatives, and Marist Youth Ministry programs such as Game Changers. Through these experiences, students are invited to deepen their faith, serve others and develop a stronger sense of purpose.
Our Faith Team supports the personal, spiritual and leadership development of all students, fostering a strong sense of community while encouraging engagement with social justice issues through a Marist and Catholic perspective.
Every child’s learning journey is unique. At Assumption College, we bring together strong pastoral care, innovative teaching, wellbeing, faith and future pathways to create a connected learning experience that supports students to grow with confidence, purpose and belonging.
Beginning with our Year 7 Quaere Program, students are supported through a contemporary approach to learning that draws on the Victorian Curriculum and personalised teaching practices. Learning in core groups provides a structured and supportive transition to secondary school, helping students build relationships, develop confidence and establish a strong sense of connection within the College community.
In Years 8 to 10, students are encouraged to explore their interests, strengths and aspirations through a broad range of subjects and learning experiences. Guided subject selection allows students to challenge themselves while discovering pathways that align with their future goals.
As students progress into Senior School, they are supported to tailor a pathway that reflects their individual interests, abilities and ambitions. Years 11 and 12 provide important preparation for further study, training and employment, equipping students with the knowledge, skills and confidence needed for success beyond Assumption College.
Recognising that there is no single pathway to success, Assumption College offers a range of senior secondary options, including VCE, VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM), VET, Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) and School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs). Students may choose a pathway, or combination of pathways, that best supports their aspirations and personal goals.
