St Ursula’s College, Yeppoon, is an independent Catholic Boarding and Day Secondary College, offering girls in Years 7-12 a holistic, comprehensive, faith-filled Secondary education encompassing academic and vocational pathways to tertiary study and /or employment.

Life-changing experiences begin here at St Ursula’s. We recognise the importance of allowing our students to develop their skills and education and pave their own future by connecting with each other and engaging in the enriching experiences provided by our staff.

We foster personal growth and encourage our students to think, learn and explore together while part of the St Ursula’s community. Through education, community and friendship, our girls exit St Ursula’s College ready for the world.

Our College Motto, ‘Perfect My Steps’, recognises that learning is a journey that involves improvement and growth. Stimulating learning environments include plenty of real-world experiences to encourage each student to find their passion.

Our Culture and Vision

At St Ursula’s College, Yeppoon, we cultivate an environment of belonging, so that each and every member of our community knows they are respected and welcome. A prominent and active well-being program supported by three Heads of School, a School Counsellor and a School Nurse, is based on the principles of Positive Psychology and Growth Mindset and ensures that girls are well supported as they navigate adolescence.
The multicultural atmosphere of the College fosters a sense of belonging and inclusion among all students.

St Ursula’s College is a vibrant Faith community providing a holistic Catholic education and residential environment through which young women are encouraged to realise their potential; founded on the charism of Nano Nagle and the values of the Presentation Sisters; yet, responsive to the demands created by the social dynamics of the 21st Century.

Learning at St Ursula’s

Our Junior School curriculum for Years 7 and 8 students develops confident and capable learners with the offer of a broad range of subjects, including the core subjects. Supported learning experiences in Literacy and Numeracy are available, including a dedicated Numeracy enhancement program.

In our Middle School, Years 9 and 10, student learning extends to include a broader range of elective studies in a variety of specialist areas, including Certificate courses and Careers Education. In addition to this learning, students have the opportunity to be involved in extension and supported programs. This approach ensures our students remain engaged in their core learning while pursuing individual areas of interest.

Our Senior School program for Years 11 and 12 offers personalised pathways for all students, encompassing both Tertiary entrance (ATAR) and Skills and Training certificate subjects. St Ursula’s College students can also access University subjects and Diplomas through CQUniversity, or connect with one of our many community partnerships to undertake a school Traineeship program. Our dynamic and supportive learning environment ensures excellent educational outcomes for all our students.

Co-Curricular

Music, Dance and Drama are integral parts of the College Curriculum. The annual Yeppoon Village Festival provides opportunities for students to showcase these skills to a regional audience. St Ursula’s presents a musical every second year, with Backstage positions available for those seeking to work in the audio, lighting, and stage management sections of each musical.

Music experiences extend well beyond the classroom at St Ursula’s College, Yeppoon. Our vibrant Instrumental Music program includes varied and interesting performance opportunities at College Masses, Assemblies, Musicals and Arts Showcases. Regional competitive opportunities include the Central Queensland Schools Battle of the Bands, and the Rockhampton Eisteddfod.

Debating and Public Speaking also provide opportunities to build confidence, while acquiring the skills of logical argument.

Sport

St Ursula’s is a member of the Rockhampton District Secondary School Sports Association and participates in sporting competitions with other Independent and State Secondary Schools in Rockhampton and Yeppoon. St Ursula’s students can trial for inclusion in the College’s representative teams that participate in the Queensland Independent Secondary Schools’ Netball (QISSN), Queensland Independent Secondary Schools’ Rugby League (QISSRL) and the All Schools’ Touch Football carnivals each year.
The College hosts annual Inter-house Swimming, Athletics, and Cross-Country carnivals.

Boarding

St Ursula’s College, Yeppoon, has provided Boarding facilities on the Capricorn Coast for over 100 years. Our Boarding House, Yumba-Gy-You, is a community where each person feels welcome and at ease, and where each one can find her special place and sense of belonging. Our three storey Boarding House is fully air-conditioned and features spacious Common Rooms and internet access. There are also wide verandahs, where girls can relax, and comfortable individual living areas. Our girls enjoy the warm and friendly atmosphere of the Boarding House, and living in a small resort town, with safe, protected stretches of beach within walking distance from our College.
Boarding students enjoy excellent educational opportunities, an interesting and varied co-curricular program, and are encouraged to volunteer within the community. Faith and Christian values are nurtured through participation in prayer, liturgies and Religious Education.

Our aim is not only to prepare Boarding students for life and learning beyond school but also to enable them to take with them happy memories and lifelong friendships from their years at St Ursula’s College, Yeppoon.
