St Andrew’s School was established in 1850. It is a leading independent, co-educational primary school providing excellence in education from playgroup through to early years and on to Year 7. We offer a nurturing environment which encourages happy and successful learning.
St Andrew’s School focuses on the critical skills of numeracy and literacy within an innovative and imaginative curriculum. Our programs provide a framework which will equip each student with the skills to enjoy a lifetime of discovery and learning.
At St Andrew’s School, we listen to our parents and encourage them to take an active part in the life of our School. Our teachers, staff and parents work in partnership to enrich the experiences of the children and sustain our community.
At St Andrew’s School, we believe that the greatest learning occurs within a teacher/student relationship of mutual trust and respect. The individual learning styles of our students are sensitively and imaginatively supported.
Building on their ELC experience, children in Reception through to Year 7, focus on the areas of learning using the International Baccalaureate Primary Years and Middle Years frameworks.
Students at St Andrew’s School have the opportunity to continue their secondary education in national and international schools offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma. In addition the students are well prepared for entry into secondary schools within State and National systems.
Children are eligible to enter our Early Learning Centre at three years and may attend three, four, or five full days per week during term time, from 8:15am to 3:15pm, Monday to Friday. Before School Care is available from 7:15am and After School Care is available until 6:00pm.
With Vacation Care available, the Early Learning Centre is open 48 weeks per year and is an Approved Provider of child care. Eligible parents can claim the Child Care Benefit.
The internationalisation of education enriches the life of St Andrew’s School by promoting an exchange of ideas and strengthening cultural understanding.
Our Co-Curricular program is based on the philosophy that personal growth occurs when children’s experiences are broadened. Activities include: art, chess, debating and public speaking, drama, Italian, Chinese, dance, sport and classical dance. Sports offered include cricket, tennis, T-ball, softball, basketball, netball, soccer, football, hockey and gymnastics.
The enriched Music program at St Andrew’s School is highly acclaimed. At any point in time, more than two thirds of students are active participants.
The program includes:
• Choir, String Orchestra and Concert Bands
• Brass, Flute, Saxophone, Clarinet, Percussion and Cello ensembles
• Handbells, table bells and recorder
• Annual musical presented by the Year 4 classes.
The emphasis of the St Andrew’s School Physical Education program is on participation and enjoyment. To foster the development of positive attitudes towards a healthy lifestyle, our students learn basic skills through involvement in a variety of sports. Students from Years 3-7 participate in the School’s swimming and athletic carnivals and Years 4-7 have the opportunity to participate in interschool sporting competition.
Our Outdoor Education program aims to develop independence and the ability to live co-operatively in a group away from home. Students in Years 4-7 participate in a series of camping experiences. Additional benefits of the program include heightened awareness of our environment and opportunities for character development, decision making, problem solving and leadership.
St Andrew’s will continue to have two Reception entry points each year as we believe that by having two intakes, one in Term 1 and the second in July, we are able to meet the educational needs of the children.
