Tintern Grammar

Welcome to Tintern Grammar

Tintern Grammar is an active and committed learning community that inspires powerful learning. We prepare our learners for their future in a caring and dynamic environment crafted to foster success at school and throughout their lives. For over 145 years Tintern has held a history of excellence in academic learning and achievement.

Parallel Learning Model

Tintern utilises the Parallel Learning model, which sees our classes run on both co-educational and single gender settings according to the student’s age and stage. From Prep to Years 9 our students learn in single gender classes at an age when gender tends to play a greater role in influencing learning styles. This allows us to tailor our teaching methods to create optimal learning and pastoral environments to support each child. Our students feel more confident to be academically courageous and challenge themselves in a supportive and nurturing environment. At the same time, many of our co- and extra-curricular activities are experienced together, so boys and girls are also prepared for the co-educational world of later life. In our Senior College, in Years 10 to 12, students move to wholly co-educational classes, when social development is an important part of their growth and maturation with the move to more inquiry based and independent learning, as they prepare for future study and work pathways.

Having both single gender and mixed classes run on a co-educational campus gives families the perfect balance between the academic and social development of their children and supports the development of young women and men of strong character who seek excellence and strive with confidence to create a better world.

ELC - Year 12

Early Learning Centre (ELC)
We offer part-time and full-time three-year-old and pre-Prep (four-year-old) programs in our ELC that combine teacher-led learning with play. Our youngest learners develop social, emotional, physical and intellectual skills, providing a solid foundation for their academic journey.

Junior Schools (Prep to Year 6)
Our Girls’ and Boys’ Junior Schools are an engaging and exciting place to learn. Our students receive the unique benefit of learning in tailored, gender-specific classrooms, while still taking part in planned activities on a co-educational campus.

Middle Schools (Years 7 to 9)
Our Middle Schools focus on academic and personal growth, health, pastoral care and gender-specific challenges. We offer elective subjects including performing arts, languages and ICT. Our Camps and Outdoor Education program builds skills of resilience, independence and responsibility.

Senior College (Years 10 to 12)
We provide choice and balance for students in the Senior College offering two study pathways — VCE and VCE/VET, as well as extensive course and careers guidance, and university preparation.

Academic Excellence

We provide a broad range of subject offerings at the Senior level along with the option to study the VCE and/or VCE/VET qualifications. We also offer accelerated pathways to VCE with the ability to study VCE subjects from as early as Year 10. This enables students to tailor a study program that meets their individual strengths and needs.

Outside of the classroom, there are many co- and extra-curricular opportunities from early in Junior School right through to Year 12 that allow our students to discover hidden talents, connect with our wider community and develop the whole self. We boast vibrant creative communities in technology, music, performing and visual arts. Teamwork and leadership flourish in sporting teams, community, environment and social justice groups. In addition to this our farm and Outdoor Education Centre offers the unique experience of maintaining vegetable gardens, care of animals and the development of a deep understanding of environmental impact.

Our Campus

Our campus is located on over 16 ha of landscaped grounds, with extensive playing fields, a gymnasium, swimming pool and even our own farm. We pride ourselves on our exceptional staff, our curricular and co-curricular offerings, and our commitment to community and belonging.
