Renowned for our balanced and holistic approach to boys’ education, the Southport School recognises that boys think and learn differently from girls. Cutting-edge educational practices include Leadership Development, Emotional Intelligence and Thinking Skills. We also provide integrated programs of co-curricular and academic, with a low student-to-staff ratio. Students at the Southport School also participate in an extensive leadership development program, with students assuming a variety of leadership roles within the School.
Students at the Southport School perform better academically when they are involved in cultural and sporting activities. As a result, they are able to learn better time management skills and organisational skills.
All of our previous 2006, 2007 and 2008 OP 1 boys had a heavy involvement in our music, cultural and sporting activities. Furthermore, the Southport School encourages all of our students to participate in the School’s culture and to take advantage of the many opportunities the School provides.
We understand our teachers are integral to the success of our students, which is why we are focused on recruiting and retaining high quality teachers. the Southport School ensures they receive continuous support and professional development and this is evident in our low staff turnover.
The Southport School boasts magnificent modern facilities for academic, boarding, cultural and sporting activities. Such facilities include; state-of-the-art Science Centre, the Annand Theatre which seats approximately 600 people, extensive sporting ovals and facilities, tennis and swimming pool complex, medical facilities and five modern boarding houses.
Since 1907, students at the Southport School become life-long members of the OSA after graduation from the School. A strong network exists for past students and regular reunions and functions are coordinated throughout the year.
