The caring community of Chevalier College holds the belief that 'it is by the heart that we are something'.
Established in 1946, 'Chev' has a proud history and a wonderful legacy from more than 13,000 past students.
In the heart-centred spirit of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart, Chevalier College enjoys a full and vibrant spiritual life and strong sense of community.
The College is well regarded for the extent and effectiveness of its pastoral care structure, where the long-term happiness of each student is paramount.
A broad curriculum, elective subjects and strong extracurricular program offer students diverse opportunities for career options and further education.
All key learning subjects are studied in Years 7 to 12, with a wide range of elective subjects introduced through a 'taster' program in Year 8.
From Year 9, students are encouraged to elect subjects that cater to their individual interests and educational aspirations.
Stage 6 elective choices broaden further for senior students, including VET courses in Hospitality, Sports Coaching, Construction and Agriculture that can go towards an apprenticeship and are equivalent to what students would undertake at TAFE.
Sporting, music, performing arts, visual arts, academic, agriculture and leadership activities offer myriad experiences for students to express themselves at Chevalier College.
Sports include cricket, rugby, soccer, hockey, softball, netball, basketball and tennis, boasting full sized playing fields and courts that are some of the best in the district.
Other popular programs at Chev include Mountain Biking, Wilderness Studies, Dance, Cadets, Mock Trial and Debating.
Through history, sports, languages and via a number of social justice, mission and cultural experiences, students are invited on trips and expeditions to various nations across the globe.
The annual musical or drama production and concert series are highlights of the school calendar.
All students at the college bring their own iPads or laptops to school daily in line with our BYOD policy.
With high-speed wireless internet connection via HHERN and AARNet networks, Chevalier College has access to authors, museums and educational institutions from all over the world without leaving the classroom. Interactive white boards and computers are used throughout the college, providing students and staff easy access to information and digital literacy.
Set in 100 acres of the beautiful NSW Southern Highlands, park-like grounds offer generous playing areas, sporting fields and learning spaces for Chevalier College students.
Our Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses in Hospitality, Technology, Construction, Engineering and Agriculture are delivered in specialist facilities, including the Trades Skills Centre for Construction and Primary Industries; commercial and domestic hospitality kitchens, and a fully equipped and maintained on-site farm.
In 2019, exciting new educational spaces will open at Chev. A new Multipurpose Hall and a refurbished and extended Performing Arts Centre will provide state-of-the-art educational facilities that reflect the calibre of talent within our school, allowing the college to continue creating a centre of excellence.
