Torrens Valley Christian School is a multi-denominational, co-educational school located in the north-eastern suburbs of Adelaide, offering authentic Christian education in a nurturing, caring and stimulating environment for approximately 600 students from Reception to Year 12.
We foster personal growth and academic success in a safe and loving environment.
Torrens Valley Christian School was established in 1980 by local Christian parents who had a vision for a nurturing Christian school community, firmly rooted in biblical truths and grounded on the Word of God. We see partnership with parents as an integral part of this process, where the responsibility for the education and Christian nurture of children is an extension of what is being taught at home.
Our facilities play a vital role in providing our students with the best possible learning environment to develop academically, socially, and spiritually. The school has a strong commitment to continuous improvement and puts a great deal of energy, effort and good management into ensuring our facilities support students in their learning journey.
And we have commenced work on our new Primary School Building, with an aim to be completed by 2024. You can learn more about this project on the link in our Announcements to our dedicated webpage.
Our school has an excellent academic reputation. We are committed to providing high-quality teaching that prepares young people to be life-long learners and equips them to take responsibility for the world in which we live.
We are committed to the development of each student’s God-given gifts and abilities, enriching their learning experience in a supportive and family-orientated environment.
Our aim is to ensure that every student achieves their potential in all aspects of their learning and social development. Our teachings are underpinned by a strong sense of compassion, respect, and responsibility for the world in which we live.
PLAYGROUP at Torrens Valley Christian School offers a variety of play experiences for under 5s and a chance for parents and caregivers to meet and share together in a caring and supportive environment.
PRIMARY SCHOOL sets the foundations for a child’s life. Our Junior Primary teachers are committed to providing experiences that challenge each student, encouraging them to strive beyond what they may think they are capable of. At the core of these experiences is our commitment to the development of key Literacy and Numeracy skills. It is this foundation that helps to build the confident learner for later Middle and Senior schooling.
MIDDLE SCHOOL is about building confidence and character. Adolescence is an exciting and unique time of development, full of possibilities and opportunities. In Middle School, we recognise the importance of providing special teaching strategies that engage, equip, and empower students to navigate this exciting journey.
And in SENIOR SCHOOL our students step into a new learning adventure and bravely decide how best to use the gifts and talents that God has given them.
Our Senior School curriculum offers rigour, innovation and flexibility that enables our graduates to develop their full academic, creative, personal, physical, moral and spiritual potential.
From music to sport and camps to excursions, we involve our students in a diverse range of activities outside the classroom to enhance their personal growth and extend their learning.
MUSIC & MUSICALS:
Our School has a vibrant music faculty with an accomplished team of music educators. The music program provides opportunities for development and growth in a variety of musical areas from Reception to Year 12. We have a strong instrumental program with a team of well trained and experienced instrumental teachers.
Our school boasts a musical each year alternating between Primary and Secondary School. It is a truly wonderful experience for our students and performed at a very high level.
SPORT:
The Physical Education and sport programs provide for involvement in physical activity that promotes immediate and long-term benefits to the participant. These benefits can be observed in terms of the satisfaction, levels of fitness, better health and pleasurable social involvement derived from individual and group skill performance.
SCHOOL OF LANGUAGES:
We work in partnership with School of Languages to offer our students with the opportunity to learn a new language. While in-class opportunities exist to learn German and Indonesian, the School of Languages takes place on Tuesday afternoons for those students who would like to learn Auslan, Chinese, French, Nepali or Spanish.
CAMPS:
School camps help provide a variety of activities diversifying students’ experiences and interests, ensuring every individual discovers their own God-given strengths, gifts and talents.
At Torrens Valley Christian School we embrace Christian families from many different countries and cultural backgrounds.
We know how important it is to belong and we encourage our community to welcome new students and families with open arms.
