Pembroke is a co-educational, non-denominational, day and boarding, SACE and IB school offering outstanding education from ELC to Year 12.
We are a truly independent school, supported by an inclusive community of care. Our students learn and thrive by engaging in a holistic education that honours respectful relationships.
Pembroke has a proud heritage reaching back over a century when girls and young women were educated at Girton Girls’ School, and boys and young men at King’s College. More than 50 years ago, these two unique schools combined to form Pembroke, a school that fosters equality of opportunity within a co-educational environment. Our students share the mantle of leadership, with girls and young women, boys and young men all taking their place at the table – listening to one another and actively exchanging their informed opinions as equals.
We welcome you to experience Pembroke for yourself – a school where all young people are known and celebrated as individuals, enriched by the breadth of opportunity we offer, and who graduate ready to take their place in the wider world.
Pembroke became the first school in South Australia to offer the IB Diploma Programme back in 1989. Today, approximately a quarter to a third of our students in Years 11 and 12 elect to study the IB Diploma. Our teachers are highly skilled and experienced in teaching the programme across the dozens of IB subjects offered. We are proud of our strong history of Year 12 results, with outstanding achievements in both the IB Diploma and the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) year after year.
Pembroke recognises the rich cultural heritage of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and respects their ongoing connection with the land.
We strive to build our knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and work together to shape a future for Australia characterised by unity and respect, with justice and equality for all.
The Indigenous Education at Pembroke (IE@P) program, established in 2009, supports our Indigenous students and celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures within and across the learning curriculum. Old scholar and Pembroke Foundation Patron, Mrs Margaret Bennett provided the seed capital to underpin the program, having supported Pembroke’s exchange with the Marree community over many years.
Pembroke’s extensive Co-Curricular Program challenges students to learn about themselves, develop new skills, embrace passions, work as a team and explore the world in which they live.
With vibrant offerings across The Arts and Sport, signature programs including in Technology, and a vast array of Clubs and Societies, there is something for everyone at Pembroke.
Pembroke School warmly welcomes boarders from around Australia and the world to their home away from home.
Pembroke Boarding offers a unique opportunity for boarders to live in a strong and inclusive community where we provide exceptional care in an atmosphere of friendship and fun.
We offer accommodation for girls and boys from Years 7 to 12 across two residential facilities: the main Pembroke Boarding House situated next to Pembroke’s Haslam Oval and across the road from the Middle School King's Campus, and Turner House on Girton Campus which is specifically designed for many of our senior boarders, complementing the Senior School's young adult pre-university environment.
For us at Pembroke, boarding is all about connections and relationships – connecting with students and learning about who they are, where they have come from and where they want to go, and building relationships with families to help them not only navigate but indeed embrace this special experience.
