Welcome to Marian College

We educate 750 girls in a safe and secure environment; each girl knowing that she will be cared for and supported, through our strong pastoral care structures.

We offer educational programs that are relevant, innovative and challenging. Curriculum is constantly renewed so that courses of study can continue to reflect the needs of our students, a wide range of options is available for students in the senior years, including VCE, VET and VCAL programs.

We believe that learning and development should occur within a framework that values and engenders the principles of inclusiveness, justice, love and forgiveness.

We recognise value and encourage the diversity of many cultures and religions within the school, as both a reflection of the broader community and as a means of understanding the wider world.

Transition to secondary school is a period of adjustment for the individual student and for the entire family. At Marian, we have a team of teachers working to ensure that each family experiences a deep sense of belonging as quickly as possible. Entering secondary school is an exciting stage of life.

Learning Approaches

The students of Marian College are invited to participate in an exciting learning journey throughout their secondary years. Underpinning our work is the core value of engendering a love of learning, hope and a sense of purpose in our students. Innovative programs and pedagogies equip Marian students with skills, values and attitudes that prepare them for life-long learning.

We recognise that student learning and their wellbeing are inextricably connected and therefore learning and teaching take place in an environment that is supportive and challenging. We encourage students to take risks in their learning and forge their individual identity and pathway.

The curriculum at Marian College provides students in Years 7 to 10 with a broad range of core subjects and electives that provide a springboard from which they can shape their senior years program. In Years 11 and 12 students select from the Victorian Certificate of Education or the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning. In both programs a diverse number of VCE subjects and Vocational Education and Training modules and certificates are available.

Extra-Curricular Activities

Marian College aims to provide students with far more than a standard academic curriculum. At lunchtime, after school and on weekends, students and staff are involved in a range of co-curricular activities.

Students can partake in a number of sporting activities including inter-school sports such as Athletics, Badminton, Netball, Soccer, Indoor Cricket, Tennis and Basketball.

In our Performing Arts faculty, an active interest and appreciation of the Arts is achieved through involvement in Instrumental Music Tuition, the Biennial School Production, Choir, Band and Student Concerts/Performances.
