ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

Rockhampton Girls Grammar School has a unique mixture of proud history combined with contemporary thinking.
Set atop Athelstane Range overlooking Rockhampton in Central Queensland, we are fortunate to be custodians of heritage buildings and long standing traditions, while embracing change and innovation.

Our School is regarded as a leading centre of education for girls of all ages, and offers a continuum in education from Prep through to Year 12. We cater for both day students and boarders. Modern educational philosophies are embedded in the traditions and values of Girls Grammar.

Girls Grammar is an independent non-denominational school for girls offering day and boarding facilities for the continuous education of students from Prep to Year 12 with boarding from Year 6. Our students come from diverse backgrounds across the state, the Northern Territory and internationally.

Besides offering excellent educational opportunities for primary and secondary school students in Central Queensland, continuing students also have access to the Central Queensland University (CQUni) which has established a first-class reputation for its educational offerings, particularly in Business, Health and Engineering.

The School provides a smooth transition from Prep to Year 12.

OUR BOARDING

Boarding students are accommodated in three separate boarding houses (Kollar, Jackson and Luck). Kollar House provides single rooms for senior students. Hewlett Packard laptops, with the latest Microsoft and Adobe productivity suites installed, are provided for both learning and enjoyment for all students in Years 4-12. Connection of personal School laptops to our secure, filtered wired and wireless network across the entire campus maximizes cyber safety and easy communication with home such as Skype.

OUR STUDENTS

Our students enrich our School community, and when your daughter joins Rockhampton Girls Grammar School she will walk down the same path as generations of amazing women before her who have experienced our unique educational environment, and moved on to make a difference in the world.

Modern educational philosophies are embedded in the traditions and values of Girls Grammar. When your daughter joins the Girls Grammar family she gains a ‘Big Sister’ who maintains contact throughout her schooling and often beyond. All staff are helpful and approachable and offer tutorials for students. Our registered Health Nurse is on duty every day and Care Mentors support every student. The Director of Boarding and Student Welfare is also available to assist in providing strategies to manage stress or personal concerns.

Every girl from Prep to Year 12 deserves the opportunity to realise her full potential, to draw forth her talents and discover new ones, in a setting where she is valued for who she is and what she brings to the learning journey. WHY A GIRLS SCHOOL

Based on our experience, we know that single-sex education offers girls the greatest chance to ignore stereotypes, develop strong self worth and grow in confidence. More and more research is showing that girls achieve and learn better in girls-only schools. At Girls Grammar girls have pride of place in the classroom, working with technology, on the sports field and on the stage. In an all-girls environment equal opportunity is not an issue, because girls get every opportunity.
