Welcome

At Cannon Hill Anglican College (CHAC), students benefit from one campus for the entire P-12 education yet are afforded the opportunities and specialisations of early learning, Primary, Junior Secondary and Secondary educators, activities and programs.

CHAC is a modern campus with fit-for-purpose buildings catering to the needs of a progressive education delivering innovative curriculum. Students have access to award-winning educators, leadership opportunities, learning extension and gifted programs, specialist coaches and mentors, exciting programs in our state-of-the art facilities.

CHAC also offers an intensive pastoral care program and balanced extra-curricular activities across a range of areas. All our students are part of a College House and this is a fundamental pastoral structure within the College as well as fostering school spirit and a sense of inclusiveness.

Learning at CHAC

PRIMARY:
CHAC Primary is diverse, dynamic learning community where all students experience and enjoy a strong sense of belonging through acceptance, co-operation and responsibility. Through a child-centred, holistic approach to development, we are committed to growing students’ intellectual capacity, in cognitive, social and emotional areas. We nurture the dispositions of serving others, giving, sharing, leading and gratitude and provide experiences aimed at building character through courage, compassion, integrity, resilience and respect for self and for others.
SECONDARY:
The Secondary education offering at CHAC is a comprehensive program from Years 7 to 12 with specific Junior Secondary and Senior Secondary phases and precincts to cater for the different development stages and needs of our adolescents and youth. We aspire students to be confident in their abilities, be world and work ready and keen to contribute to the betterment of the world.

Academic Excellence

CHAC fosters an academic rigour through a challenging curriculum across our P-12 education. The results for our students are often transformative, and this can be demonstrated by our outstanding academic outcomes.
Our strong academic tradition continues to produce excellent performance across the Queensland ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank), NAPLAN testing, external academic competitions, and considerable student participation in accelerated programs.

The Arts

The Arts at CHAC provides students with the ability to foster and demonstrate their creativity and artistic expression through a wide offering of programs, events and projects.
A full-scale musical is staged every other year for students from Years 7 to 12. And the Dance Troupe forms every other year for experienced dancers and performs in selected community events including Breathless.
Annual and special competitions that are run both internally and externally are promoted for student development in every Arts subject and include the Creative Generations Visual Art awards, Score It music composition competition, Dance troupe Eisteddfods, interschool drama competitions, The Young Composer’s competition and more.

Music Program, Performance, Recording Studio

Our Music Program is recognised for its high quality, diverse and rich program in an environment encouraging student enjoyment and excellence.
The Performance Music department offers students at CHAC individual Private Music Tuition, Ensemble programs and Music Technology classes and Primary Immersion Programs.
And there are many performance opportunities for ensembles and choirs throughout the year from Gala Concerts, Soloist Recitals, Eisteddoford and Community Events.
And our Ghostgum Audio is a purpose built, acoustically designed recording space, with a fully equipped recording and sound mixing studio facility, providing unique and exceptional opportunities for our music technology and music students to gain experience in recording and performing in various ensembles in the recording studio.

Sport at CHAC

A commitment to training, teamwork and fostering talent, sees CHAC consistently competing to be the Number 1 Sport school in the TAS Competition. We are recognised as one of the most successful and most engaged Colleges in our inter-school sporting competition.
Students who have a high skill level in a chosen sport may elect to trial at the District level. If successful in making a District team, the student would then compete at the Metropolitan East Regional level, and could progress to State level.
CHAC has been involved in non TAS sports in the past including Australian Rules Football and Girls’ Football.
