School Information

Tanunda Lutheran School (TLS), situated in the heart of the wine growing district of the Barossa Valley in SA, delivers excellence in education from Pre-school to Year 7 students, in a warm, nurturing Christ-centred environment. Our mission is to provide an outstanding education together in Christ. Tanunda Lutheran School values community. We consider ourselves as a family and ensure that all members of our school family feel welcomed, valued and included. Each child who attends Tanunda Lutheran School is considered its most important asset. Children learn best when they are immersed in an environment that cares, nurtures and encourages. Tanunda Lutheran School provides that environment for its students. With a current enrolment of 230, TLS provides a contemporary and future-driven education equipping students with lifelong skills. We recognize and develop individual talents, enabling students to enrich their life journey and contribution to society. TLS develops in students their knowledge of the Christian faith and skills in literacy, numeracy and information processing. Tanunda Lutheran School is a place where children count - and read and write and inquire and sing and play and laugh!

School Aim

Our aim at Tanunda Lutheran School is to develop our students into well rounded citizens, not only academically, but socially, emotionally and spiritually. We instil in our students values such as; love, justice, forgiveness, humility, courage, service, compassion, appreciation, hope and quality. We encourage our students to not only learn about these values, but to live them.

Curriculum

Our curriculum, based on the new Australian Curriculum and the South Australian Curriculum Standards and Accountability Framework, as well as the Lutheran Education Australia Christian Studies Curriculum Framework, has been developed in each of the following Key Learning Areas: Christian Studies, English, Mathematics, Science, SOSE, Design and Technology, Health and Physical Education, LOTE (German) and The Arts. Specialist Teachers work in Physical Education, German, Drama, Library, Special Education and Gifted and Talented Education. Camps (Year 6 & 7 to Canberra), sporting carnivals and school musicals are integral aspects of our school.

Early Learning Centre

Tanunda Lutheran School also offers a pre-school education to 3 ½ - 5 year old children at our new Early Learning Centre which opened this year. The ELC will provide a warm, nurturing, Christ-centred environment. It will deliver an innovative play-based curriculum designed to enrich each child's individual learning style and needs. The learning program is based on the Early Years Framework for Australia: 'Belonging, Being, Becoming'. Children will be delivered an exciting curriculum of learning that values and promotes inquiry, questioning and self-discovery. Children will be encouraged to question, investigate and learn about the world around them in a warm, friendly and positive atmosphere.
