St John’s Catholic College is a unique Catholic co-educational day and boarding school. Its uniqueness lies in its environment, its history, its tradition and culture and the diversity of students.
St John's is unlike any other school in Australia we care for students from an array of Aboriginal and Torres Strait communities across the Top End and beyond. We also have students from West Papua, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Sub Continent as well as many students from the greater Darwin area. This mix includes students from our Darwin community as well as a number of Defence Force families, who contribute to the most welcoming and accepting feeling of our College.
St John’s Catholic College mission and commitment is to challenge young people to develop strength in the areas of FAITH, EDUCATION, COMMUNITY and TRADITION. We are committed to understanding the social and emotional needs of each student in striving to educate the 'whole person', when students feel safe and valued that they are able to contribute to our community and realise their full potential.
Our history and traditions require that we engage the whole person as we provide opportunities for our students to succeed at the College and prepare to make a positive contribution in the world. Our students are caring, compassionate, confident and repeatedly demonstrate their strength of leadership in the 'five Rs':
• Relationship building
• Respect – giving and gaining
• Responsibility – for their actions
• Reliability – trusted to do the right thing
• Risk taking – facing up to challenges and finding solutions to problems.
We have highly qualified and dedicated staff and a beautiful setting and facilities. We invite you to contact the school and speak with us, as you consider St John's as the school for your young people and family.

Entering the senior campus is an exciting and wonderful step as students begin to follow their own individual interests and begin to specialise in particular areas and subjects. The curriculum is diverse and offers a wide variety of subjects to meet the needs and interests of our students. The College offers academic subjects to enable students to enter university as well as VET subjects and apprenticeship opportunities. St John's aims to live out our mission of excellence and strength in faith, education, community, and tradition. We have, as our vision a school of excellence is all aspects of education, a school which builds relationships, develops faith and understanding, personal responsibility and compassion.
Our students become creative, independent lifelong learners, caring and involved citizens who appreciate the uniqueness of each person and value the differences of culture and background of each person

The boarding houses are managed by the Heads of Boarding and staffed by full time, part time and casual house parents. These people are chosen for their Christian values, qualifications and experience in working with children. Their mission is to care for your child, keeping them safe, happy and healthy and to promote and encourage their education and to provide them with a wide range of sporting and recreational activities.
We recognise that boarding is seldom, if ever the same as living at home, but those students who come prepared to grasp the many and varied opportunities that boarding house life offers, thoroughly enjoy the experience and make lifelong friends.
