A School with Spirit

Step through the front gates of Loreto Kirribilli, and you will encounter what is warmly referred to throughout our community as our school ‘spirit’.

Intangible, indefinable, our school spirit is the reason our harbourside campus is vibrant, welcoming and full of life, and why every student develops a deep sense of belonging to a rich community of faith.

It is our spirit that imbues every learning opportunity, every feast day and extra-curricular activity. Perhaps it is the very same spirit that over 400 years ago gave our Loreto foundress, Mary Ward, the courage and strength of faith to establish her schools for girls; girls who would come to be ‘seekers of truth and doers of justice.’

Our Values

Our strength is driven by our values; verity, justice, sincerity, felicity, and freedom of spirit.

We nurture these qualities in our students to assist them to become women of purpose, with a profound sense of their own worth and an enduring sense of responsibility to others.

At our heart is a culture of growth and excellence, where every student has the opportunity to flourish, not only in the classroom but also on stage, on the sporting field, in positions of leadership and advocacy, and in the pursuit of social justice.

Inspiring the Future

At Loreto Kirribilli we have a saying, ‘Honouring the past, celebrating the present, inspiring the Future’. We honour the people of the Cammeraygal clan who lived, fished and canoed around the spot they called ‘kiarabilli’, meaning ‘good fishing spot’. We honour the pioneering Loreto Sisters who crossed continents and oceans, faced imprisonment and penury, steadfast in their belief in the importance of the education of girls.

We celebrate the present, with a rich and varied school life where students are encouraged to discover, uncover and realise their individual strengths, gifts and talents, while learning to make informed choices and decisions for themselves and others in a supportive, nurturing and stimulating environment.

Perhaps most importantly, we inspire the future with innovative and engaging experiences designed to prepare our students for a world that is rapidly changing.

Our pedagogy, informed by the Loreto Kirribilli Learning Lens, enables our students to further develop their skills in critical thinking, collaboration, creativity and communication. We want students to be able to solve complex problems, to be creative designers and future entrepreneurs.

In Loreto Kirribilli’s community of faith, we nurture the spiritual, intellectual and social development of our students, so they are tomorrow’s women, ready to go out into the world and make a positive difference.
