The Australian Industry Trade College came into being because young people needed us and Australia did too.
We started helping young people to find their purpose and proudly pursue a pathway in industry, at school. Some might call it a trade. We prefer profession. For us, it’s simply about finding what fits; about loving what you do.
Our aim is to seamlessly blend senior education and vocational training to engage young people in purposeful learning experiences with real world industry relevance. |
|
|
Our College provides a unique two to three-year program for young people in Years 10 to 12 that focusses on:
- developing character and values
- academic and enterprise skills
- employability skills
- industry readiness.
We are the only school in Queensland where students spend half the term in the classroom and half the term in work experience, work placement, training or a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship.
Our program is designed to progressively develop employability skills and achieve individualised learning goals, whilst also meeting the requirements of the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) and the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA).

|
|
Here at the AITC we deliver a three-year course of recognised study (Years 10 to 12) with subjects that are carefully selected from:
Australian Curriculum (ACARA)
Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA)
Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualifications; and
College-developed programs
Our subjects are contextualised to industry and aim to consistently challenge and enhance employability skills in our young people.
College-developed programs further enhance and develop the ‘whole human’ through a focus on employability skills, work experience, community service and character development.

|
We are proud to offer a number of specialist programs, for those who have a clearer idea of the industry they want to work in and the career path they want to follow.
These industry-backed academies and QuickStart programs are the first of their kind and offer a unique pathway for young people who possess leadership skills and are ready to hit the ground running. |
|
|
We promise to connect young people with industry and industry with great young people.
We are regularly asked about the school-based apprenticeships and traineeships that a young person can pursue.
Whilst the top school-based apprenticeships sought after include plumbing, electrical, carpentry, hairdressing and cabinet making, your young person can train in any nationally recognised trade course that is offered in Queensland. |
