About MLC School

MLC School is an independent, non-selective Uniting Church school for girls from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 in the inner west of Sydney.

Led by a highly professional staff under the guidance of Principal, Ms Lisa Moloney, girls are challenged and encouraged to question traditional perceptions and roles of women, to take their place in an ever-changing society.

The MLC School girl is empowered with skills and capabilities that enable her to be adaptive, compassionate and courageous. She embraces new challenges and opportunities; and strives for excellence. She is cared for and well supported so that she can confidently focus on her own individual, personal and academic growth. A wide selection of subject choices, as well as an extensive co-curricular program, aims to empower girls to be self-reliant and play an active role in their futures.

Junior School

MLC Junior School starts at Pre-Kindergarten with play-based learning and culminates in a transition to Senior School in Year 6. The Junior School is a hub of collaborative learning where girls can push the boundaries of their education from the very first days of their school life.

Senior School

MLC School offers senior girls the choice between either the Higher School Certificate (HSC) or the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme for their final years of study, both of which provide an academic pathway to tertiary education around Australia and internationally. Around 40 per cent of each cohort studies the IB. MLC School believes that an education which encourages students to dare to be more is an education that extends beyond the walls of the classroom.

Round Square

Developed in 1966, the Round Square community includes 160 schools across six continents. MLC School is the only Round Square member school in the Greater Sydney Metropolitan Area and has been a global member since 2005. Round Square is a global network of innovative schools that share a passion for experiential learning and character education. The Round Square approach gives MLC School girls the opportunity to dare to take actions on a sports field, develop awareness of global concerns, master skills, contribute to a team, serve another and extend the mind. It is the opportunity to discover who they have become because of how they have chosen to extend themselves.

Co-Curricular Program

MLC School has a proud tradition of offering an extensive, high quality co-curricular program that support our girls’ academic, social, emotional and physical wellbeing, as well as fostering supportive, collaborative and creative communities across the Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 continuum. Programs include clubs and committees, debating and public speaking, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, mind challenges, an internationally recognised music program; and dance, drama and entertainment programs producing prize-winning performances.

Sport

Girls are offered a choice of 19 sports to extend themselves physically, learn skills and develop their capacity for cooperation and teamwork. These cater to girls from beginner to elite level. Some examples include football, AFL, rugby, hockey, swimming, rowing, athletics, gymnastics, tennis, water polo and netball. Facilities include a world-class Aquatic Centre for water sports and multi-purpose all-weather courts.
