Aquinas College

Welcome to Aquinas College

Aquinas College is one of Western Australia's oldest and most respected boys' colleges.

From its foundations in Christian Brothers College Perth in 1894, Aquinas College continues to educate generations of young men within a Catholic framework, encouraging honesty, truth, integrity, justice and responsibility.

Aquinas offers your son the opportunity for a sound academic education in a caring, and stimulating environment. The College accepts day students from Years 4 to 12 while boarding is available for students in Years 7 to 12.

Aquinas College is sited on an elevated breath-takingly beautiful 62-hectare property on the Canning River. The spacious and beautifully maintained grounds of Aquinas College gives the boys the space and freedom to learn and grow in an open, unrestricted environment.

Education at Aquinas College

At Aquinas, your son will receive a holistic education that encompasses academic studies, sport, culture, service and spiritual development. While these subjects are important within themselves, their true value lies in helping your son discover and develop his inner spirit and strength of character; his heart and soul. Learning about himself, and the difference he can make, is as important as what he learns.

Because we believe success is not what he becomes, but who he becomes.

Academic

At Aquinas we strive to generate innovative teaching and learning practice with emphasis on higher level thinking skills and supporting curriculum through technology. The enriching environment of Aquinas provides an atmosphere for many aspects of your son's development.

A diverse curriculum aims to cater for the individual abilities of each boy and a wide variety of challenging electives is offered with traditional subjects. Such a variety encourages students to develop and extend their interests and giftedness, and offers them a challenge to relish.

The Aquinas College teaching and learning philosophy is one of 'striving for excellence' - fostered among all of our students irrespective of their academic ability. What is important is that each student leaves school with a sense of achievement, having attained the results desired, commensurate with his individual abilities.

Cultural

The art, design and print media programs encourage students to appreciate the visual world around them. They are challenged to think creatively about visual issues and to communicate their ideas through a variety of media such as drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, media and computer studies.

Drama, Theatre Arts and Speech and Communications are offered as part of the curriculum in the Middle and Senior Schools. The annual drama production is one of the most anticipated events on the school calendar and participating students are fully involved in the production as actors, managers, stage hands and audio/lighting technicians.

Musical activity abounds at Aquinas with Senior and Junior concert bands, the swing band, brass band and string ensembles, camps, clubs and rock bands. Many of these groups include a social element through participation of girls from neighbouring girls' Colleges. The College is in partnership with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra.

Sports

Aquinas offers physical education classes, skills coaching and team building in rowing, swimming, tennis, cricket, basketball, water polo, athletics, Australian Rules football, hockey, soccer, rugby union, cross country, volleyball and badminton.

Boarding

Aquinas has a long and outstanding boarding tradition. Boarding is available for students from Years 7 to 12.

Residential life for the Aquinas boarders is warm and comfortable. It is also vigorous and energetic - as you would expect with so many people from vastly different backgrounds! Students from all over Western Australia, Australia and overseas come together during term time to create a truly vibrant environment.

The boarding community provides a wonderful environment in which young men live and grow.
