Chevalier College

The Heart of Education is the Education of the Heart

The caring community of Chevalier College holds the belief that 'the heart of education is the education of the heart.' Established in 1946, 'Chev' has a proud history and a wonderful legacy from more than 12,900 past students.

Charism and Pastoral Care

In the heart-centred spirit of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart, Chevalier College enjoys a full and vibrant spiritual life and strong sense of community. The College is well regarded for the extent and effectiveness of its pastoral care network, where the long-term happiness of each student is paramount.

Broad Curriculum and Elective Subjects

Broad curriculum and elective subjects offer students diverse opportunities for career options and further education. All key learning subjects are studied in Years 7 to 12, with a wide range of elective subjects introduced through a 'taster' program in Year 8. From Year 9, students are encouraged to elect subjects that cater to their individual interests and educational aspirations. Stage 6 elective choices broaden further for senior students, including VET courses in Hospitality, Sports Coaching, Construction and Agriculture that can go towards an apprenticeship and are equivalent to what students would undertake at TAFE.

Co-curricular Activities and Excellent Facilities

Sporting, music, performing and visual arts, academic, agriculture and leadership activities offer myriad experiences for students to express themselves at Chevalier College. Sports include cricket, rugby, soccer, hockey, softball, netball, basketball and tennis, boasting full sized playing fields and courts that are some of the best in the district. Other popular programs at Chev include Mountain Biking, Wilderness Studies, Dance, Cadets, Mock Trial and Debating.

Through history, sports, languages and via a number of social justice, mission and cultural experiences, students are invited on trips and expeditions to various nations across the globe.

The annual musical or drama production and concert series are highlights of the school calendar.
